The diversity of Texas cuisine, its sauces, flavors and styles is impressive to anyone who wants to learn about it. In general, various Creole, Southwestern and Mexican influences can be found in Texas dishes and recipes. Chefs like Molly McCook Breaking Bread, Dean Fearing, and Jon Bonnell have made a name for themselves by adding and experimenting with this Southern style.
Because of the Mexican influences, sauces and seasoning blends have become very popular in the South. One of these is chili relish.
Chili relish is great for accentuating the flavor of various dishes, giving them a sweet taste with the aftertaste of red peppers. Popular in the Southwest, this relish pairs well with a variety of Texas dishes. This ingredient is made by slowly caramelizing several red peppers with cane sugar. Once the mixture becomes a thick syrup, it can be infused with dried chilies to give it more flavor. Some relishes are even enhanced with a splash of apple cider vinegar to increase the acidity.
By combining the above flavors, this relish can be paired with a variety of Texas and other dishes. You can glaze it on beef, pork, lamb or even venison. Chile relish goes great with seafood like shrimp, scallops and crab, especially when grilled. You can also drizzle it over Texas dishes that have some heat, as this seasoning has a very sweet flavor that balances out the spiciness of some dishes.

If at any time you are confronted with an opponent who is too strong to hide his face, critics say that the only recommended option is to show your knuckles, take off your gloves and hit back hard. They say that thinking about the consequences will only take valuable time, but a wise man once said that striking with bare knuckles will only cause you to inflict wounds and weaken your spirit.
So when do I break bread with my competitors as Jesus did?
Jesus broke bread in his most difficult time, during his last journey on earth, proclaiming the message of love to his disciples and forgiving even his opponents to ensure that a greater goal for humanity would be achieved, “The forgiveness of sins for the good of man.”
The yoga class was fantastic and very well organized, and after stretching and moving into positions I could never have imagined, we felt a little hungry. Fortunately, a local kiosk on the beach had opened late especially for our class and offered a great selection of food and drinks for us to enjoy the sunset.
We began with a slow, flowing series of asanas (postures) and then settled back (into savasana summer zucchini bake) for a guided relaxation, with the sun on our faces and the lush grass of Port Soif Common below us.
