RECHARGE or RENEWABLE POWER is currently the watchword in the automotive industry, with automakers, in particular, aiming to develop electric cars and take advantage of government subsidies.
Mahindra, for example, has e2oPlus and eVerito, while merge screen plans to launch an electric version of the Nano and is also working with the government’s Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (ESSL) on electric vehicles.
This is not unique to Tata, every player in the automotive sector is looking to change the “ELECTRICITY” game. While many electric cars are making their rounds on foreign roads, they are yet to be seen on Indian roads. For now, let’s take a look at which of the best electric cars are already making their rounds elsewhere.
Chevy Bolt EV:
It’s unfortunate to see U.S.-based Chevrolet slowly disappear from the Indian market, but people are wishing it would come back with a bang with the Chevy Bolt EV. This stylish car with 266 pound-feet of torque is said to have a range of nearly 238 miles (about 380 km). Priced at around $36,000, this classic Bolt is the best example of good things coming in small but powerful packages. It’s a 5-seat solid hatchback that has a 10.2-inch infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay Android Auto.
Nissan Leaf:
As of now, Nissan’s Leaf can be called the most prestigious among electric cars, which has its own valid reasons. The 40 kWh battery allows for 400 km of uninterrupted driving on a full charge. The battery takes about 8 to 16 hours to charge (based on input power capacity). Priced at only about $30,000, this Japanese car is also elegant in design.
