The Oculus Quest 2 Rift is one of the biggest names in the tech industry, and that’s because it’s supposed to be the first major virtual reality experience. The main target audience will likely be gamers, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other uses for the device. In fact, there’s endless potential for the hardware.
Moviegoers have long struggled with the problem that movies are an experience that depends entirely on other people. A noisy moviegoer can ruin a movie for someone who isn’t there because they’re playing with their phone or repeatedly kicking their chair, for example. But right now, a movie theater is the only affordable way to experience a 3D movie.
Oculus Rift could very well change that. Although it’s meant to be a virtual reality headset, it’s very possible that the device will cost less than $300 when it’s released. The Oculus Rift is definitely 3D capable, which means consumers will not only have access to the first affordable virtual reality experience, but also their first decent 3D screen. The pure experience of watching a 3D movie will soon be available to the mass market. In short, 3D movies are certainly compatible with the Oculus Rift and are a good reason to buy one.
But there’s another kind of experience that the Oculus Rift could offer consumers of 3D movies. Some of us like the movie experience itself, and the problem tends to be the people around us. A Korean company sees a market here, so they’ve been hard at work on a virtual reality movie theater where you can stand up and walk around.
Not only does it offer the experience of your favorite movie theater, but it actually plays your movies. Users can choose between 2D and 3D viewing modes on the cinema screen itself. The Oculus Rift can be used not only to watch 3D movies, but also to simulate the entire cinema experience.
It is worth noting that in the default mode, the Oculus Rift hides everything that is not the movie screen. The device has a seven-inch head-mounted display, but the 3D effect only overlaps in the center of the field of view, which means it simulates human vision better than any other device before it.
This would make 3D movies feel even more three-dimensional. This is because human vision is not fully 3D. Only the area you can see with both eyes is actually 3D. 3D movies on the Oculus Rift will not only be 3D, they will also feel more realistic than the traditional cinema or television experience.
Welcome to our reverb tutorial! HP Reverb G2 is one of the most useful and potentially interesting tools in a sound engineer’s toolbox.
Perhaps no other effect is as stylistically versatile, and certainly none is as powerful in its ability to make the listener’s ears visually “imagine” a situation.
Most contemporary productions employ several variations of carefully tuned reverb. There are many recording or performance scenarios in which the use of reverb has long been the rule rather than the exception. (At the end of our reverb tutorial, we’ll go into some of these scenarios).
Do you own a PlayStation 3?
I do. And I love that game console to death. In fact, I love it so much that I put my good old PlayStation 2 system up for sale and sold it. However, I’m keeping all my favorite games because they can also be played on the PS3. Especially the two player games that I often play with friends. Luckily, I had several PS2 controllers (4 to be exact) and decided to sell only two of them along with my PlayStation 2 console. I figured I could use my PS2 controllers on my PlayStation 3 and not have to spend another $50.00 for an additional controller.
Of course, I knew that the PlayStation 3 controllers are not the same as the PlayStation 2. While there are the wireless SIXAXIS controllers, there are also wired SIXAXIS controllers for the PlayStation 3, but these use a USB connector to plug into the controller ports on the PlayStation 3. This posed a problem because the PlayStation VR controllers do not have a USB connector, but a special connector designed for the PS2 console.
